Scamp and the Legend of Laguna Verde

by GS Felton

Hi! Do you like going on Treasure Hunts? I certainly do! Scavenger Hunts are the best! Ellis, the main character in this story, goes on the biggest Scavenger Hunt she’s ever been on to uncover a secret legend about a powerful staff.

Ellis’ life had always been interesting. Her father was an archaeologist and they traveled the world in search of ancient artifacts. However, her life got even more interesting when she was told she was the only one who could stop a villain from getting hold of a powerful artifact! Ellis went on a perilous journey. It was a race to save the world. She uncovered many clues and almost lost a dear friend along the way.

There were some points in this book where I wished that the characters had been given a little more description. For most of the characters, the author gave great details. But for others, I found myself wanting even more.

I found that my favorite part of this book was the journey that Ellis took around the world. I don’t get to experience much in my small town, so this gave me a taste of what day-to-day life is like in other parts of the world. For example, I felt like I was riding on the back of a llama with Ellis when she traveled with the gauchos!

This book included a lot of mythology. While it’s not exactly like the Percy Jackson series, it contains an element of mythology. So, if you enjoyed Percy Jackson, you may enjoy this book, too!

Will Ellis save the world and defeat the villain before he gets to the staff? Or will Ellis fail and die a miserable death? As I always say, read the book to find out!

A few helpful things I like to say about the books I read:

“Run and Get Mom” (how I describe the scariness factor – zero being not scary at all and five being majorly scary): 3

3 Ghosts.png

“Yucky-Lovey Stuff” (how I describe the romance factor – zero having no yucky-lovey parts in it and five having major yucky-lovey parts): 4

I give this book 5 wands.

I absolutely loved this book! I love any books about following clues and treasure hunts and, if you add in mythology and life-or-death situations, it makes one amazing book!
